About
“I’m all about cooking with soul, hyping sustainability, and going on adventures to explore good food & culture.”
I’m Sammy Monsour, a third generation chef, restaurateur, published cookbook author, food activist, television personality and event host. I’m a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, with roots stemming from my parent’s neighborhood joint in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. My cooking and restaurants have received acknowledgment and acclaim from Michelin, James Beard Foundation, Zagat, Eater, and Food & Wine.
My food and cuisine style is Americana—with heavy vibes of Southern technique and sustainable sourcing. I strive to make food that is iconic, infinitely crave-able, rustic enough to be welcome on anyone’s dinner table, and beautiful enough to be on the cover of a magazine.
Over the past decade, I’ve opened four critically acclaimed restaurants, two in Downtown Boston and two in Downtown Los Angeles—most notably, Preux & Proper—a six thousand square foot two floor Modern Southern restaurant in the heart of LA’s Fashion District, which received a Bib Gourmand in Michelin’s 2019 California Guide.
