Contribution | Sustainable Shrimp & the Future of Responsible Aquaculture (Seafood Watch)
I recently contributed to a feature on the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch website titled “A Bright Future for Sustainable Shrimp.” The piece explores the potential for responsibly raised shrimp to support ocean health, climate resilience, and global seafood security.
As a chef and sustainability advocate, I’ve spent years engaged in conversations around aquaculture, traceability, and the future of our seafood supply. Seafood Watch has been a leader in shaping how consumers, chefs, and buyers understand sustainable seafood, and I’m grateful to have been part of this work.
The article highlights current innovations in shrimp farming, the need for science-based standards, and the role that chefs and culinary professionals can play in accelerating demand for responsibly raised seafood. It reflects a shared commitment to building a food system that protects ecosystems, supports coastal communities, and ensures long-term access to seafood we can feel good about.
