MY PASSION FOR ENTERTAINING

Throughout my lifelong passion for food and cooking, I've always been drawn to the art of storytelling and entertainment. Over the years, I've been fortunate to share my culinary adventures on screens across eight major networks and streaming platforms, accumulating over thirty television appearances.

From the high-pressure environment of cooking competitions to the joy of food-focused travelogues and the warmth of family-friendly daytime talk shows, my television journey has been an eclectic mix. I've even dipped my toes into the realm of offbeat late-night programming, adding to the diversity of experiences.

Beyond the kitchen, I find creative fulfillment in film and photography. Whenever I find myself on set, I take notes from the seasoned professionals, eager to learn and improve.

Each television opportunity has been a chance for personal growth and development in the entertainment industry. Through these experiences, I've shared my passion for food and storytelling in ways that resonate with viewers, enriching my journey and hopefully bringing enjoyment to theirs.

guy’s big project

When my good friend Guy visited my restaurant, Preux & Proper, nestled in downtown Los Angeles, it was a moment to remember. Together, we filmed some exciting cooking segments in the kitchen, which was an absolute blast. Later, I had the honor of presenting my plates to the contestants on his show, with the episode centered around 'The Bite.'

For this challenge, I served my dishes without any explanation. Each contestant had to take a bite and then describe it accurately and engagingly for the viewers at home. It was thrilling to see them rise to the challenge.

One of the remarkable aspects of Guy's universe is the community of genuinely passionate individuals he's brought together. During the filming of this episode, I had the pleasure of connecting with Mark Anderson & Ryan Fey (The Grill Dads), Christian Gill, and Sherri “Gigi” Williams—individuals who have become not just acquaintances, but friends I've remained in touch with to this day.

Guy's ability to bring together such exceptional people is truly remarkable and speaks volumes about his influence and character.

the untitled action bronson show

If you're familiar with me, you know that hip-hop runs deep in my veins; it's not just a genre, but a culture I've embraced and studied. Growing up in the South, I was immersed in the rhythms and rhymes of hip hop, especially in my father's restaurant kitchen where it was the soundtrack of our culinary creations. So, when Action Bronson burst onto the scene in the mid-2000s as both a rapper and a chef, I was instantly drawn to his unique blend of talents.

Fast forward well over a decade, and I found myself in the incredible position of hanging out with the man himself. Cooking alongside Action Bronson, swapping techniques, and vibing to hip hop music together was more than just a dream come true—it was a moment straight off my bucket list. He's not only a gifted artist but also a true gentleman and scholar in both the realms of rap and cooking.

Being a guest on his show, 'The Untitled Action Bronson Show,' was a surreal experience, one that perfectly melded my passion for food and hip hop culture. It's a memory I'll cherish forever, a testament to the power of music and culinary artistry to bring people together in unexpected and unforgettable ways.

Hallmark’s Home & Family

Returning to Hallmark's Home & Family was always a delight for me; it felt like coming home each time. Over the course of five seasons, I had the privilege of becoming a familiar face on the show, a role I cherished deeply. My segments often revolved around sharing holiday recipes, offering viewers creative ways to infuse their Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Holiday Season celebrations with flavor, warmth, and soul.

Being part of the Home & Family team wasn't just about showcasing recipes; it was about fostering a sense of connection and joy with the audience. I'm immensely grateful to the hosts for their warmth and camaraderie throughout the years. Additionally, the crew behind the scenes played a pivotal role in making each filming session feel like a genuine family affair, filled with laughter, creativity, and a shared passion for spreading holiday cheer.

Food Paradise

Travel Channel's Food Paradise has been a wonderful platform for me, extending invitations not once, but twice, to showcase two of my cherished restaurants. The first feature highlighted Preux & Proper, where we proudly presented our signature house-made, cold-smoked, and dry-aged andouille sausage on the episode titled "Sausage Kings." Later, we returned to the spotlight with South City, my beloved fried chicken joint, on the episode titled "Guilty Pleasures."

Filming with the talented crew from O'Malley Productions was an absolute blast, and their expertise shone through in every aspect of production. They are truly among the best in the business, and working alongside them was both a pleasure and an honor.

hulu’s chefs vs wild

Join me on an extraordinary journey as I'm dropped from a Seaplane into a canoe, armed only with the clothes on my back and two knives. For a week, I'll immerse myself in the breathtaking wild landscape of British Columbia, surviving and foraging. My mission? Not just survival, but also to gather ingredients for an upcoming cooking competition where I must prepare a Michelin-star-worthy three-course meal.

This adventure has made me feel deeply connected to Mother Earth. I agreed to film this series because of my love for the outdoors; my wife and I are passionate backpackers, campers, hikers, and kayakers. However, I've never ventured into full-blown survivalist mode, and I relish the challenge.

Moreover, the show's values resonate deeply with mine. Their mission is to inspire a deeper respect for our planet, emphasizing the preciousness of food. Throughout this journey, I aim to not only test my survival skills but also to underscore the importance of sustainable living and our relationship with nature. Also, I made the Hulu banner, which was super rad!

Beat bobby flay

Well, I may not have Beat Bobby, but I did win the first round of cooking, earning the chance to go head-to-head against the Iron Chef himself. Cooking on that set was truly a wonderful experience. Everyone, including Bobby, was incredibly welcoming and positive.

I've never considered myself a competitive person, but when Food Network offers you the opportunity to cook alongside culinary giants, you don't hesitate to say yes. It was an honor to be part of such an esteemed event.

Straight up steve austin

Just when I thought frying chicken out of a 50-gallon oil drum rig in the middle of the desert with one of my childhood heroes couldn't get any better... I found myself hanging out with the hilarious Rob Riggle. Together, we cooked, exchanged stories, laughed, and savored delicious food.

Adding to the magic of the moment was my sous chef, Angel (center of image), who joined us for this unforgettable adventure. This shoot stands out as one of the most memorable experiences I've had, both on and off camera.

Angel's journey with me has been remarkable. Starting as a dishwasher at Preux & Proper when he was just 19, his growth, maturity, and dedication were evident when he became one of the opening sous chefs at Joyce. He continues to inspire those around him while continuously learning and evolving.

guy’s grocery games

I've had the pleasure of knowing Guy Fieri for well over a decade; he's been a friend and mentor to me. I've had the privilege of appearing on nearly every show he's hosted, but it was on Grocery Games where my journey began.

In fact, Grocery Games marked my debut on national television back in 2013, during Season 1. I'll never forget that experience – I competed and became the first contestant to win the full $20,000 cash prize. Guy has always infused Flavortown Market with a sense of fun, and despite not being inherently competitive, I've returned to compete five times over the past decade.

Guy's camaraderie and the vibrant atmosphere of the show keep drawing me back. It's been an incredible ride, and I'm grateful for the opportunities, memories, and relationships created through these experiences.

Cutthroat Kitchen

Who could forget the chaos and creativity of Cutthroat Kitchen? Alton Brown's mischievous alter ego kept viewers entertained for a whopping 15 seasons on Food Network. I certainly remember it well, especially because I had the opportunity to compete on multiple seasons and emerged as the Grand Champion of Season 7's 'Evilicious' Tournament.

The games were nothing short of outrageous, and what fueled my competitive spirit wasn't so much a desire to win, but rather, a commitment to enjoy every moment to the fullest. Being on set with Alton was an absolute delight each time.

As a budding culinarian, I grew up watching Alton's show 'Good Eats,' absorbing his lessons on culinary technique grounded in science. Filming Cutthroat Kitchen provided the perfect opportunity to geek out with Alton, engaging in fascinating conversations about food science that were truly memorable highlights of the experience.

THE BEST THING I EVER ATE

You know "The Best Thing I Ever Ate," where celebrity chefs and Food Network hosts reveal their top dishes? Well, it's like a behind-the-scenes glimpse into their culinary obsessions. So, you can imagine my excitement when I got the call that Duff Goldman was a huge fan of my food and restaurants!

One of the highlights of my filming experience was sharing the screen with my close friend and business partner, Josh Kopel (see photo). Together, we embarked on two restaurant ventures, and our journey has been filled with invaluable lessons and mutual growth. Josh's contributions to the hospitality industry are nothing short of remarkable, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn from him and to have played a part in each other's professional development.
